Jason Funk
Jason Funk was born during October of 1976 in Los Angeles, California. Rumor has it, every pregnant woman in Los Angeles went into labor that same day. To accommodate Jason’s rapidly approaching birth, his mother was shipped to Watts, were he entered the world at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital. Jason doesn’t remember writing much during this time, except with magic marker, on his younger brother’s head.

Years later, his family migrated east to the enchanted desert of New Mexico. Encouraged by parents that loved reading and who refused to buy a television, Jason fell in love with books. He wrote his first story, The Magic Pickle, in the second grade. Deciding early that writing was the career for him, Jason focused on writing and literature classes instead of the normal elective choices. Very little, if any of the writing from this period still exists.
Limited on school options, Jason discovered his college didn’t offer a writing program, much less a literature program. Instead, he ended up in the world of Liberal Arts, a well-rounded but mostly useless purgatory where schools ship students until they make a real career choice. During this time Jason continued to write and develop his skill, mostly at writing bad fiction.

After leaving college, Jason got a respectable job in the publishing industry, working for Kinko’s. There he continued to write short stories and publish them in underground periodicals known as zines. This was the blogger world before the internet. The fiction became slightly better.
In 2003, Jason got a real job. No really, like a real job, as a lineman for a national telecommunications company. There he met his future wife, who would reignite his love and passion for literature. He’s grateful for her, and for everyone who’s encouraged him to pursue his life long dream. The writing is the best it's ever been, and Jason continues to work hard bringing his novels to publication.
